The Center for Oral Health Systems Integration and Improvement (COHSII) established a Quality Indicators Advisory Team (QIAT) to identify a set of MCH oral health quality indicators to monitor and improve oral health care services delivered to the MCH population in public health programs and systems of care.
Identifying and Implementing Oral Health Quality Indicators for the Maternal and Child Health Population: 2018–2019 describes QIAT's process. The report provides indicators for women of child-bearing age and pregnant women and for children and discusses implementation strategies, indicator limitations, and challenges in obtaining data.
COHSII was funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration. COHSII was led by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center in partnership with the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors and the Dental Quality Alliance. COHSII worked with key stakeholders to improve systems of care in support of a quality-improvement, patient-centered approach to address the oral health needs of the MCH population.
