Module 4: Prevention of Oral Disease
Module 4 provides oral health professionals with information about preventive agents and measures that can promote oral health and reduce oral diseases in children. Preventive agents and measures including fluorides; antimicrobials such as chlorhexidine, xylitol, and systemic antibiotics; dental sealants; and scaling and prophylaxis are discussed in terms of indications and contraindications for use. Adaptations for children with certain special health care needs are discussed as well.
