Please Note:
A Health Professional's Guide to Pediatric Oral Health Management is no longer available.
We recommend Smiles for Life: A National Oral Health Curriculum. This curriculum for health professionals and educators comprises eight courses addressing oral health. Topics include the relationship between oral health and systemic health; child oral health; adult oral health; acute dental problems; pregnancy and women's oral health; caries risk assessment, fluoride varnish, and counseling; the oral exam; and geriatric oral health. Pocket cards and applications for handheld devices summarizing key point-of-care information on oral health for children and adults and dental emergencies are also available. The curriculum also includes two supplementary modules focused on global oral health and front line health workers. The modules are intended for training online by individuals or in a large group, small group, or classroom setting.
Smiles for Life is now the nation's most comprehensive and widely used oral health curriculum for primary care clinicians. It has been officially endorsed by 20 national organizations, and is in wide use in professional schools and post-graduate training programs.
