This DVD is designed to help dentists and dental students recognize and respond to domestic violence. Contents include a case study demonstrating how to conduct the ask, validate, document, and refer (AVDR) intervention, which is a four-step intervention that oral health professionals can use as part of a response to domestic violence. The folder for dental schools includes an instructional plan, which explains how to use the other documents included on the DVD. The folder for dentists contains a downloadable document titled "Training Your Staff," which explains how to use the tutorial in a small group, practice the AVDR steps, and assign follow-up tasks such as creating or updating a list of local resources.

This report presents best practices to raise awareness, improve clinical responses, and strengthen community partnerships in support of the health and safety of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Indian Country, Arizona. The best practices are a compilation of stories and strategies implemented at hospitals and clinics that piloted the Family Violence Prevention Fund Project in Indian Country. Topics include why there is violence against Native American women, a history of health care domestic violence reform in Indian Country, domestic violence as a health care issue, and how to create a domestic violence response.

This continuing education course provides information on dental assistants’ role in preventing family violence. Through understanding what causes family violence and learning the definitions of child abuse and neglect, assistants also learn the protocol for identifying suspected cases of child abuse and neglect. The course helps assistants recognize common symptoms that may mimic symptoms of abuse and learn to intervene in family violence cases in which adults, versus children, are the victims. Additionally, the course helps to familiarize assistants with local and state initiatives to prevent family violence.

This database is designed for use by researchers, the media, public health professionals, and the public in learning about the public health and economic burden associated with unintentional and violence-related injury in the United States. Contents include fatal and nonfatal injury, violent death, and cost of injury data from a variety of sources. Users can search, sort, and view the data and create reports, charts, and maps based on the intent of injury; mechanism (cause) of injury; body region; nature (type) of injury; geographic location where the injury occurred; and the sex, race and ethnicity, and age of the injured person.
