This resource provides evidence-based recommendations and findings about what works to improve public oral health. Strategies are reviewed and interventions outlined in three key areas: (1) prevention of dental caries; (2) prevention of oral and pharyngeal cancers; and (3) prevention of oral and facial injuries. Recommendations include community water fluoridation, school-based or -linked dental sealant delivery programs, early cancer detection, and the use of protective gear for the head and the mouth during contact sports.

This continuing education course presents information on early childhood caries (ECC), as well as the management of a child with this infectious disease. Topics include the etiology of ECC, prevention strategies for infants and children under age 3, ECC screening methods, and rationale and techniques for the use of alternative restorative technique and fluoride varnishes.

This website provides training and other resources for health professionals and community volunteers on providing oral health preventive services for infants and children in Missouri. Contents include a program summary and information about becoming a volunteer and finding an oral health consultant. Additional resources include screener training for dentists and dental hygienists and training for health professionals on implementing an oral health component and applying topical fluoride varnish. Presentations for use in conjunction with kindergarten through high school health curriculum are also available in English, Spanish, and Native American versions. This resource provides information on Preventing Abuse and Neglect Through Dental Awareness (PANDA) coalitions and how oral health professionals can help prevent child abuse and neglect in Arkansas.
