The pamphlet describes the services dental consultants can provide and how they function. It also gives examples of their success in assisting Head Start programs.

    This booklet lists the program recipients of the Community Preventive Dentistry Award presented by the American Dental Association from 1979 to 1997. The booklet is supplemented by periodic addenda that list the awards for subsequent years. Entries include the name of the program recipient, the award presented, a brief description of each program, and the name of the person who submitted the entry. Entries in the booklet are organized topically within categories: early childhood caries; oral health for low-income communities; fluoridation; fluoride-rinse programs; oral cancer; oral health education programs for teachers, children, parents, and communities; Head Start; periodontal awareness for professionals; sealant programs; smokeless tobacco; and oral health for patients with special health care needs. Entries in the addenda are organized by the level of award conferred on the program.
