This online course discusses the significance of health literacy in the public health profession. It provides practical steps to apply the principles and strategies of health literacy in daily activity. These campaign materials are designed to increase public awareness about the harmful effect of frequent and prolonged soft drink consumption on oral health, particularly in children, adolescents, and young adults. This resource provides information on Preventing Abuse and Neglect Through Dental Awareness (PANDA) coalitions and how oral health professionals can help prevent child abuse and neglect in Arkansas. Topics include educational programs, potential coalition members, and case studies. It also includes back- ground information on PANDA coalitions, physical and behavioral indicators of and risk factors for child abuse and neglect, dealing with intimate partner violence in the health care setting, and identifying and reporting suspected abuse and neglect. A suggested reading list and a slide presentation are also available.
