This participant binder contains materials from the expert meeting held on May 11-12, 2006, in Washington, DC, to address approaches, issues, and challenges faced by school-based dental sealant programs in enrolling eligible children in Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program and linking them to a dental home. Also discussed are considerations and strategies for strengthening school-based dental sealant program linkages with community resources, including dental insurance and providers who can meet children's broader oral health care needs. This website contains the agenda, presentation materials, and supporting documents from two meetings to discuss strategies for improving access to and use of oral health services for children enrolled in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The meetings were held on October 7, 2010, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and on November 10, 2010, in Arlington, Virginia. Topics include developing messages for parents with low and moderate incomes from focus groups that were held in four cities around the country to inform state policymakers about family perceptions of oral health care, the importance parents place on having dental coverage for their children, parents’ knowledge of oral health, and reactions to oral health facts and messages.
