This toolkit, along with in-person trainings, provides community health center medical providers with information on appropriate oral health care for children, including those with special health care needs, in Massachusetts. The CD-ROMs provide information on establishing a dental home, a review of the BLOCK Oral Disease strategy for oral/systemic health integration, a review of special health care needs and oral health implications, sample forms, information on fluoride varnish application, and printable parent/caregiver educational materials. The printed manual provides anticipatory guidance and recommended actions for oral health in infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence. It also includes charts of information for a variety of special health care needs. In addition, the manual contains a poster and an illustrated chart for identifying oral pathology in childhood caries and periodontal and soft tissues infections/lesions, a caries risk assessment tool, and fluoride varnish information.
